What you can convert, and when it helps

File conversion is rarely the goal in itself. It is what stands between a file you already have and something you actually need to do: attach a scan to a form that only accepts PDF, drop a report page into a slide, get a 30 MB deck under an email limit, or open a phone photograph on a machine that has never heard of HEIC. FileMixr covers the handful of conversions those situations keep asking for, and nothing else.

Images become PDFs when a photo, receipt or scanned page has to behave like a document. PDFs become images when a page needs to be embedded, previewed or shared where no PDF reader exists. Images change format when the destination is fussy: WEBP for the web, JPG for compatibility, PNG when transparency matters. PDFs get optimized when they are simply too large, which is almost always because the images inside them are stored at a higher resolution than anything will display. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files become PDFs or page images when a recipient should read the document rather than edit it.

Every tool exposes the same three decisions up front instead of hiding them behind a single Convert button: the output format, the resolution, and how hard to trade file size against quality. Those three settings are what separate a usable result from a blurry or needlessly huge one, so they are visible before you upload rather than after you are disappointed.

Handling your files

Files leave when the job is done.

An upload and its result are stored only long enough to finish the conversion and let you download it. Preview and download links are signed and expire after 30 minutes, and an hourly cleanup removes both files after 24 hours. Nothing is kept for analysis, and no account means nothing to tie a conversion to. Treat it as a workshop, not storage: keep your own copy of anything that matters.

What can I convert with FileMixr?

FileMixr is an online file converter for common document and image tasks. You can convert images to PDF, change one image format into another, turn PDF pages into images, compress and optimize PDF files, and convert Word, Excel and PowerPoint files into PDF or image output.

Do I need a FileMixr account?

No. Every tool works without an account, a sign-up or an email address. Choose a file, set the options, convert, and use the result link directly from your browser.

Do I need to install an application?

No installation is required. FileMixr runs in a current desktop, tablet or mobile browser, so you can upload a supported file, choose conversion settings and download the result without installing desktop software.

Is FileMixr free to use?

Yes, the conversion tools are free to use. Fair-use rate limits apply so that one visitor cannot exhaust the server for everyone else. Any future change to availability or paid features will be shown clearly before it affects your use of the service.

How many files can I convert?

Conversions are limited per visitor to keep the service responsive: roughly one at a time, up to 6 per minute, 30 per hour and 100 per day from the same address. If you hit a limit, the page will tell you to wait and try again shortly.

Can I convert several files at once?

Not currently. Each conversion takes one source file. A multi-page PDF or Office document can still produce many output images from that single file, delivered together as a ZIP archive.

Which image formats are supported?

Uploads are accepted as HEIC, HEIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, WEBP, GIF, TIF, TIFF, AVIF and SVG. Output can be JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF or TIFF, with PNG as the default in the image-to-image workflow.

Can I convert JPG, PNG or HEIC to another image format?

Yes. The image-to-image converter changes format while letting you pick the output type, resolution and optimization profile. It is the quickest fix when a website, email client, printer or application refuses the format you have, and the usual reason people convert HEIC photographs from a phone.
